Disgusting room Just... eeyuck. eeeww.
You have to love staying in Hawaii for 55 bucks a night and staying on base so you don't have to brave waikiki traffic and such... But....
I wouldn't put my family in this room.
I was stationed here for 10 years just 6 months ago and these "900" series rooms were abandoned the whole time. Navy Lodging, having standards well below the air force apparently, opened them. About the only thing they did to get it ready for occupation was shampoo the rug, which did nothing. The bathroom is mostly broken, the window units are incredibly loud, the wallpaper is falling down in most places, paint is peeling off the ceiling (yes, these are lead paint era buildings). There's a hole in the bathroom ceiling from, probably flooding that was patched poorly and is falling down again. Not fit for occupation by almost any standards, probably not legal considering the paint and collapsing ceiling. The guys I came with have rooms in worse condition. The rug looks like it has had wild animals living in here (probably just homeless people).
Oh yea, I am on the back side of the building, and much like anything abandoned, in Hawaii, it has been broken into before. The door doesn't close all the way (it locks and latches, but the frame is not square anymore) allowing roaches and geckos to crawl through. Couldn't sleep due to air conditioners being super loud (window units).
Its on the "ass end" of the base with no lighting or service within reasonable walking distance. Forget your key card in your bedroom and you're locked out. I don't mean in your room. Each room has 3 locks (its supposed to be family housing, but they put locks on the bedrooms to restrict them for single occupancy). Make sure you put your door key card in the front room and don't forget it... its well over a mile walk to get to the front office to get an unlock.
Nothing good about it when compared to anything else. I mean.. its really just a place to keep the rain off. Even with the government paying, I feel ripped off.
